Good News

Feb 12, 2017
Today is a great day and it’s not even my birthday! (T-39 daysπŸ˜‰) I have been waiting for the day I get to go home from the hospital. The criteria for leaving are to reach 0.5 neutrophils for 3 days and having no other issues going on.  The last 4 days I have had neutrophils of TLTC which means, too low to count.  πŸ˜Ÿ  Today, however, my doctor came in and told me my neutrophils were 0.4 and she expects them to continue to go up and if so . . . .
I can go home on Tuesday!!

Northwestern is a very nice hospital, but I'd rather be home!!  I’m supposed to have some activity everyday and that basically means walk the halls.  I’m only allowed on ½ of the floor so the route is very small.  It takes 14 laps around to equal 1 mile.  I can’t walk and count that - even without chemo brain.  Since I’m neutropenic, I basically have to gear up in a HAZMAT suit to leave my room.   .  . . .  oh, and it isn’t sweaty at all walking around in a plastic suit and your nose and mouth closed off in polyester! πŸ˜‰
I have been fortunate to have a few visitors though.  Chris Walter came up one afternoon.  I forgot to get a picture of him but he really was here.  Actually I think he came more to visit Kriz as they are good friends. πŸ˜ My friend Karen came to visit just in the nick of time as I recall.  She followed her part of hygiene protocol that was indicated on not-to-miss signage everywhere.  When she entered the room she said “I don’t think I’m supposed to touch you?”  I told her I didn’t care and threw a sheet over her and engulfed her in a hug.  She consoled me until I was able to stop crying.   I was having a weepy day. πŸ˜’
She came Saturday as well, along with Bob.  They asked if there was anything they could bring for me, so I told them what I wanted ( 🍷) and, being the great friends they are they brought me some.  Kriz wouldn’t let me drink any -bummer!  πŸ˜ž We played cards though and it was so great to spend time with them.
I am so happy to be going home soon.  Mom will come to take care of us and I can’t wait to see her again. πŸ’– Stephanie plans to come up right away too, but she admitted to a sore throat and I know Kriz is going to be merciless about germs.  I’m praying for her quick recovery to perfect health.  πŸ™  I love it when she is around too!! πŸ’—
Thank you for reading my blog.  I am very thankful for your concern and support.  I truly believe my body would not have responded as positively without you.  I am so thankful for you.  May God Bless you in an unexpected way!
